Freedom isn’t Free: Celebrating the 4th of July with purpose
We, the people…
As fireworks light up the night sky and families gather for barbecues and celebrations with loved ones, the Fourth of July reminds us that our very ability to gather is thanks to the bravery of so many so long ago. We celebrate the birth of a nation built on courage, conviction, and sacrifice.
On July 4, 1776, a group of ordinary men with extraordinary determination signed the Declaration of Independence, boldly declaring freedom from tyranny. Their vision for our future still serves us today, and that spirit of service and selflessness continues to define the brave men and women who answer the call to defend our country.

At The 98 Fund, the Fourth of July isn’t just a day to celebrate—it’s a day to remember with joy and gratitude. We honor those who stood for liberty in 1776, and those who’ve carried the torch ever since. Our mission is to support military veterans and the surviving family members of those who gave everything in defense of our freedom. Their sacrifices are a modern echo of the values that sparked our nation’s independence nearly 250 years ago.
Independence Day is about resilience, unity, and the power of people coming together for something greater than themselves. That’s what we strive for every day at The 98 Fund: to uplift, to honor, and to empower the people and families who have borne the weight of war and service. Our founders risked everything for the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—ideals that our veterans have protected across centuries and continents. It is our hope that the work we do honors the vision they laid out for this incredible nation of ours.
As you celebrate today, we invite you to remember those who’ve served—and to take action in their honor. Whether it’s donating to support a Gold Star family, volunteering your time, or simply sharing our mission, every gesture helps light the way forward.
Because freedom isn’t free. But together, we can ensure those who paid the price are never forgotten.
We, the people of The 98 Fund, are wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Independence Day!
